Amman- November 3, 2018- Under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Social Development Mrs. Basma Ishaqat, Bloom Dead Sea Gift Enterprise launched on Saturday the Women’s E-mall and Bazaar at the Housing Bank Park in Abdoun, with the support of the USAID Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project (LENS).

The Women’s E-mall and Bazaar is an online platform and physical marketplace that aims to sell the products of at least 200 women-owned micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and home-based businesses (HBBs) across Jordan, thus widening their customer base and expanding their access to new markets. In addition, the initiative involves preparing the MSEs and HBBs with the necessary skills to effectively market and sell their local hand-made products.

The Women’s E-mall and Bazaar directly impacts women from local communities around Jordan. Job opportunities, especially for women, are scarce in rural and underprivileged areas around the country, where most women work from home to support their families through their small income-generating businesses. However, the income they make is typically very small and is volatile and therefore, does not cover all their expenses.

The Women’s E-mall and Bazaar provides participating businesses with trainings well as a platform to sell their products in the local and international market. The training services, from which 220 women have benefitted so far, covered different topics including product packaging, soap production and drying herbs, in addition to managerial skills like quality control and marketing. The training, and access to the selling platform, will help to secure a steadier source of income for women and will enable them to grow their businesses.

A wide range of locally-made products are now available for sale through this platform, including food products such as dairy, pickled vegetables and spices, in addition to natural skin and hair care products.

Customers can purchase products online through the E-mall website or visit the Housing Bank for Trade and Finance public park in Abdoun, Amman every Saturday during the month of November, where up to 150 women participating in the E-Mall and Bazaar initiative will be present to sell their products in person.

The Women’s E-Mall & Bazaar is an initiative managed by Bloom Dead Sea Enterprises and funded by USAID LENS. You can learn more about the products by visiting the e-mall website:
